[de]limitations aims to stage the roles and interactions between Romania’s largest ethnic groups, as they are conveyed to young citizens through formal institutions, with a particular focus on language. This language articulates the defining characteristics of each group and dictates how they should interact with one another.
The roles propagated by these formal institutions—learned, repeated, and performed by individuals—are grounded in distinctive notions that shape identity. These notions are transmitted to individuals alongside the principles and language of inclusion and exclusion.
