Waiting Tenses uses a diaristic format and textiles to weave together individual and collective narratives about labor and solitude. Trapped within the walls of the home, the character in Waiting Tenses makes textiles to confront the passage of six months as they move from isolation toward connection with others.
Working with textiles is a practice historically marginalized and often associated with women’s labor, domesticity, and passivity. Through embroidery, textile collages, and felt, the project explores the physical recording of time, repetitive gestures, daily routines, and emotional shifts.
