Embroidery, felt, textile collage
Waiting Tenses plays with the diaristic format and textiles to weave together individual and collective narratives about labor, stagnation, and solitude. Trapped within the walls of the home, Waiting Tenses explores textiles—a practice historically marginalized and often associated with women’s labor, domesticity, and passivity.
Through embroidery, textile collages, and felt, the work documents six months of states and thoughts as a character moves from isolation to connection with others. The pieces delve into themes of doubt, immobility, and reflect on how to navigate the present moment.
